Grace Mitchell

Grace Mitchell is talented to say at the very least. She has a voice that from the very first note will grab you and take you away into a dreamlike state. Her EP Design is on more top lists then I can mention for this year. With a standout EP this year there is a lot of people (including myself) looking forward and waiting anxiously for what this modern day Siren has in store for 2015. Take a listen to her below and then go buy her EP immediately.

Gio Dee: New Single PSALM 51.

Gio Dee, one of the most promising and talented artists coming from Boston has released a single in preparation of his upcoming tape #TOTB2. I've been following Gio Dee for awhile now and seeing him develop from a young kid with great potential into a talented artist who is working hard each day to perfect his skills has been amazing. PSALM 51. is just a small peak into the collection of music he has been compiling and working on for the past year now. 

With the release of this single and his past works it's not hard to see the versatility and talent that he has, nor is hard to see how much he has developed as an artist in such a short amount of time. I am glad to say that over the years I feel that I've developed a friendship with Dee and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for him. #TOTB2 is the perfect name for Gio Dee's upcoming project, with how hard he has worked on making his "own sound" and developing his skills this is truly a whole new beginning to something that I'm not sure anyone can predict. Nate DAE (a.k.a YT) : Workin'

Nate DAE (formally known as YT) is a young up and coming artist from Jacksonville, Florida. There has been lots of talk over the years about if good rap music can come out of the state of Florida... well if Nate DAE's new song Workin' is any indication of what is to come then we have a lot to look forward to. Nate DAE doesn't take anytime before going in on this single that is going to be from his upcoming project. Workin' is produced by Jordan Lumley who is also going to be the sole producer for Nate DAE's entire next project that is supposed to be dropping in early 2015. It's time you get familiar with Nate DAE and his music because it sounds like he's here to stay. Take a listen/download Workin' below!

Ro Ransom Is The Future

Finally we have a new tape from Ro Ransom. RRITF is the result of years of work and perfection. Ransomnia gave Ro some notice and put him on the map but RRITF is going to have him starting to invade other territories. I've been following the Young Coyote for years now and with each release there is tremendous growth in his sound. There are very few rappers (especially one still so young) that can impress me with everything they put out, Ro is one of those guys.

With every song you not only hear, but can feel the emotion in his voice. Most of the music put out today is unfulfilling and basic as hell but this is one of my favorite tapes of the year. When music can make you sing along or bop your head it's catchy, but when you listen to music and it takes you into the mind of the artist that is when you know it's great.

The day that Ro Ransom (a.k.a Nero, Young Coyote) and ILLROOTS teamed up is a day that should go down in history. These two are the main reasons that I really got back into rap and discovering new artists, starting this blog for a class, and wanting to work with artists. Both Ro Ransom and ILLROOTS are changing the rap game in their own way and it's awesome to watch. If I hadn't discovered ILLROOTS and then Ro I can honestly say I don't think my life would be the same.
When I first discovered Ro it was one of the first artists that I could truly connect with hearing the emotions (pain, anger, relief, etc.) in his voice and his rapping about personal problems and issues in his life and how he felt was something that helped me in my life a lot. At the time the main thing rapped about was money and women. Hearing Ro's songs and knowing that even people that talented have issues helped me get through a lot of shit in life. I can only hope that this tape blows up and Ro gets the attention and respect he deserves so he keeps making more music.

Wish List of Music/ Music Ramble

Well it's been a long time since I last posted, much to long. Getting to share and connect with some of my favorite artists is awesome and I want to get back to that. I've had a great summer but it hasn't been complete. I am always on websites looking for new music from upcoming artists and trying to discover new talents. This summer has been one of my favorites for discovering new music and seeing some of my favorite artists keep getting better.

If Saba's mixtape (which could be an album) ComfortZone is a preview of the type of new music that is coming in the following years, we should all be sitting on the edge of our seats. I have been looking forward to FowL's, Ro Ransom's, and Gio Dee's for months. Working in the music business I understand why they have taken so long to drop but as a fan.. it's hard to wait. These three artists are just the tip of the iceberg of what is coming. Whats even more crazy is these guys are just from America, if I was to include my favorite international artist which are Young Tapz and Mzwétwo the list would get too long. 

Not sure where this post was supposed to go but anyway I hope that the artists that do see it know that they have fans and support and that the hard work will pay off. Don't fucking sell out cause what you do is art, and your influence on people is grater than you think.

ECHOS: The Funeral Remix

This remix of Band of Horses song The Funeral was done by ECHOS and it's fantastic! ECHOS keeps all the feelings and emotions from the original song and amplifies them into an amazingly catchy song. With only three songs on soundcloud (all of which are great) I can only hope for more amazing music from this talented artist.

Saba: Butter

Not only is Saba unbelievably talented at rapping he is a beast on the production side too. Butter is a song off his upcoming project titled ComfortZone. The talent this young artist has is unbelievable and there is no knowing the limits that he can reach. One thing is for certain he is defiantly going to be the next to blow up from Chicago. Listen to his latest track above but also check out some of his other recent work some of which will also be on his upcoming project.

Banks: Drowning (Lido Remix)

Lido has remixed Banks song Drowning and has made an absolutely beautiful song even more beautifuller (that's defiantly not a word but it's fitting). The beginning of the song grabs your attention and has you hooked until the very last note. Lido has been on a roll lately this song comes after just a few days before he released another remix of Bastille's Bad Blood that was done extraordinarily well! Lido is an artist that continues to amaze us and 2014 looks promising for this young artist.

Viceroy: Remixes

Viceroy has been on a hot streak lately with all these remixes! Every track is remixed beautifully and will have you moving to the beat of the music. I've been a fan of Viceroy for a while now and have yet to be unimpressed with anything that he puts out. Plus being a huge Jimmy Buffett fan myself and Viceroy claiming to be the dance game Jimmy Buffett I can't be anything other than supportive of him. Raury: Sunshine

The Atlanta native Raury graces us with some more amazing music. Sunshine is a self-produced track that is fantastic. After releasing visuals for God's Whisper and now releasing this song there is no doubt that this is going to be a huge year for Raury.

Pell: Dollar Store

Pell releases a new song titled Dollar Store produced by Ludwig Göransson who worked with Childish Gambino and does the composing for TV shows like Community  (I'm a huge Community fan) and New Girl. With that being said you can basically guarantee that the production is going to be amazing. This is the second song that Pell has released from his upcoming album Floating While Dreaming that is said to be released in May. This is an amazing song that will get your head bouncing while you vibe out to the story that Pell has to tell. Go listen to Dollar Store below then go and share it!

Flatbush Zombies

First off I love the Flatbush Zombies, not just because they make good music but because their music is SO different than everything else. Even though I can't personally relate to a lot of what they rap about, the way that they rap makes feel like I'm there with them... trippy haha. Go and listen to their latest release Red Light, Green Light below! Also Erick Arc Elliott is way underrated that dude makes some crazy shit.

Kygo: Diplo & Friends Guest Mix

Well Kygo once again showcases his amazing talent on BBC Radio Diplo & Friends. This guest mix is fantastic! I can not wait to see what 2014 has in store for this kid, after all the amazing music he put out last year he should will be a household name by the end of this year! Ricky Cervantes has done it again by releasing yet another amazing mix titled Laundry Day 2 . This is part of his Jersey Club themed sets and is the second set in the series so far. I have yet to be disappointed with any of his mixes that I have heard. There are some awesome throwback remixes of songs on the set. The amount of great work that Ricky is releasing is amazing. NAPT is an artist that followed me on Twitter the other day and damn am I thankful for that! I've been listening to some of their music on soundcloud and keep on playing their latest mix titled The Surrender Mix on repeat. NAPT are a British EDM duo that are signed to Fool's Gold Records and if that in its self doesn't tell you they have talent then you need to listen/download their music immediately! Trust me your head won't stop bouncing once you hear their music.

Jay Z & Jay Electronica: We Made It

Jay Z and Jay Electronica released their take on Drake and Soulja Boy's We Made It and destroy it. Jay Electronica starts out the song by tearing across the beat and Hov came in for the kill on this one. Hov even takes a shot at Drake calls him Mrs. Drizzy on the track. This might be a shot back at Drake after an interview he did with Rolling Stone which he stated "Jay can't drop anything without art references". What ever the reason for the song Hov/Jay Electronica took it away on this one. Hopefully we hear more from these two in the future. Listen to the song above and you can download the song here.

The amount of amazing music coming out of New Zealand right now is amazing and BROODS is no exception. BROODS are a brother-sister duo that is creating great music and gaining a lot of attention lately. They have just released a second music video off their self-titled EP, this new release is for their song Bridges.

Raury releases a new visual for his song God's Whisper and it's amazing! Raury is an artist that is just beginning to show us the amazing talent and creativity he really has. At the age of 17 there is no cap to the amount of amazing art that this kid will release. I have been listening to Mzwètwo everyday since I first heard his music and let me tell you it is nothing like you've heard before, his music is hard to describe because it has the influences of so many different genres. He only has four songs on soundcloud yet he is one of my most listened to artists recently. His songs are full of emotions with a dark and raw feeling to them. The ILLMORE

Well it's that time of the year again, SXSW is where all the latest and greatest ideas or products come under one roof. Not to mention that it brings in the biggest names in the music world for a non stop week of partying. SXSW has three main topics those are music, film, and interactive. The most talked about music venue going on during SXSW is The ILLMORE a mansion party that is just two days away put on by ILLROOTS, and it is legendary! They bring in the biggest names in the industry to party and perform at a house my bad a MANSION PARTY. I've been dreaming to go to one of these infamous parties for years and hopefully will get the chance to attend in the future. ILLROOTS is always innovating their company so hopefully one day there could be a ILLMORE tour. After about the second year of hearing and seeing videos of the ILLMORE parties I came up with this idea, it could start at SXSW then LA, Chicago, and NY. Each place (besides SXSW) could have only artists perform that are from that region. Such as Kendrick and Casey Veggies for LA, Chance for Chicago, and A$AP for NY. Just an idea I had in my head, but anyway if you have the chance to attend SXSW then you better pray and do whatever it takes to get an invite to The ILLMORE! Check out there site here. 

Skizzy Mars: Pace

To say that Skizzy Mars is talented is an understatement. Being one of my favorite artists to listen too, any new music is always appreciated. I have been following and blasting Skizzy since I first heard him on his American Psycho release. His skill set and creativity is expanding with every piece of work he releases. Pace is no different, his flow and wordplay gives him a unique ability to get everybody's head in the crowd bobbing. I had the opportunity to meet Skizzy at a show in Iowa City and although the venue wasn't large, the energy was definitely there. If you haven't heard of Skizzy yet now is the time to catch up and watch him blow up. Go listen and download his newest work of art Pace below.

Sonny: Danel Exodus

Sonny Shotz is bringing us some new music today with the release of Danel Exodus. I remember the first time I listened to Sonny and was amazed with is talent, every time I listen to something new of his it's always unique and different from his past music. This is Sonny's debut solo album but expect much more to come from this young artist. His ability to tell stories and take you on a journey through his music is unmatched. One of my favorite things that Sonny does with all is music is make the intros and interludes extremely thought provoking. Go download his solo album but also be on the lookout for The Kings Dead Utopia album supposedly coming sometime this spring. Download/Stream the album here!

Pell Eleven:11

Pell was a new artist to me but not anymore after listening to his new song Eleven:11 I'm hooked. Listening to his music he reminds me of  Cudi/Theophilus London/Big Sean combination which I guess is why his music is so addicting in its own right. From a bit a research on Pell I have learned some pretty interesting facts on his past and how his life influences his music. His versatility on different songs is one of the abilities that I admire most about his work. I look forward to hearing and seeing more of what Pell has to offer us in 2014. Beyoncé: Drunk In Love Remixs

Beyoncé's Drunk In Love one of the most popular songs out right now which has caused it to be remixed by some of the biggest artists out. The Weekend, Diplo, and Kanye just to name a few, all of which did amazing jobs making the song into their own. StraightFace

Forever is more than just an album, it's a story that grabs your attention straight from the start. This music is not for the average listener who just wants to hear the latest Top 40 hits on the radio, it is for those who want music that will evoke raw emotion. In every track you can hear the pain and emotion that StraightFace has had endure in his life. I was extremely impressed with the production of this album, StraightFace's flow and lyricism are top quality and along with all the awesome samples used throughout the album he has created some of my favorite work so far this year. I hope to hear a lot more from StraightFace in the future and see him develop even more into an amazing artist. Forever was one of my favorite tracks off this album, I was at aw of the story he tells and the emotion that I felt just listening to the song, for me it truly was the perfect ending for the album. I urge you to go take a listen to Forever below and support StraightFace by spreading his music.

A$AP Ferg: VMA AWARDs

A$AP Ferg freestyles over ScHoolboy Q's Man of the Year song. VMA TALEs is just one of many songs Ferg has released this year along with Pantie Lover and DTA Awards. Look for the A$AP MOB's upcoming album supposed to be released on March 4th titled L.O.R.D. Take a listen to VMA TALEs below.

FowL 2MuchLove EP

Detroit native FowL releases a new EP in times for Valentines Day titled 2MuchLove. This is a two track EP but with what it lacks in volume it makes up for in content. I've been following FowL since the release of his LP Tall Tale back in 2012. He has yet to disappoint me with his unique sound and storying telling abilities. Erick Arc Elliot

Erick Arc Elliot 1/3 of the Flatbush Zombies and the producer for the group has released a new demos project. Its a thirty minute project that showcases his unique style that he is so well known for. Childish Gambino is also on the mix with a feature on the song God Save the Villain. 

Dally Auston

Can SAVEMONEY do no wrong? Dally Auston released a new project titled WestsidEP which is a nine-track project. A precursor for Auston's upcoming album Roses, WestsidEP is a great way to hold us over till Roses is released.

Futuristic

Futuristic brings in Dizzy Wright and Layzie Bone for his new track "I Guess, I'll Smoke". With a song title like that its only right to have Dizzy and Layzie on the track too. All three go in on the track bringing their familiar and unique sound to make a great song. Listen to the song and buy it on iTunes.

StraightFace Forever

Wow. First off thank you EARMILK for introducing me to StraightFace. When I first heard this new music from StraightFace called Forever I knew I had to share it too. There is something raw and emotionally riveting about StraightFace's music. I myself am currently in the process of finishing Forever (I downloaded it halfway through the first song). He hails from Athens, GA and thats about all I know of him so far, but am excited to learn and hear more of what he has to offer. If Forever is a predictor of what can come from this guy then I don't see him going away anytime soon. Stream/Download Forever below and prepare yourself for is coming from this guy. 

Chief Keef

Chief Keef lets you know what's on his mind in his new song "All I Care About" produced by Young Chop. This song will probably be on his upcoming mixtape Sosa Bang 3 which Kanye West is confirmed to have collaborated on. The full mixtape is dated to be released on March 3st. 

ILLROOTS

Where to even begin. ILLROOTS is one of the first blogs I started visiting when I was just realizing my passion for music and discovering new upcoming talent. It was where I first heard some of my favorite artists today. I can still remember listening to Nero (at the time) a.k.a Ro Ransom a.k.a Young Coyote for the first time and being absolutely astonished with the talent that he had. ILLROOTS has become one of the most influential blogs in the music industry. They have started their own clothing line called ILLAMERICA which has become extremely popular. They are also the masterminds behind one of the biggest events at SXSW, this event goes by the name of The ILLMORE and it's a mansion party with some of the biggest names in the music industry performing at night. It's just about the only place you will ever see headlining artists perform at a house party and it makes for quite the experience. I hope to be able to go to SXSW and attend one of these infamous ILLMORE parities sometime in the future and if the opportunity exists I highly recommend you go to. Overall ILLROOTS is much more than just a music blog, it's a lifestyle. From music, clothing, parties, and interviews etc.. they are revolutionizing the music industry. Ab-Soul BLP confirmed

New Ab-Soul project on its way

"Black Lipped Pastor" is the name of the new Ab-Soul album confirmed to be released this year.  The Top Dawg Entertainment CEO had announced earlier this year that TDE would be having six albums coming out this year. With one of the most talked about label groups last year it looks like TDE is planning on doing even bigger things. The six albums are rumored to be from each individual artist on their roster: Kendirck Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SZA, and Isaiah Rashad. This looks to be a big year from the TDE crew, the fact that the label was one of the most talked about and influential groups last year without even dropping an album is an amazing feat. Other labels are going to have to be on the lookout for the "Top Dawg" this year.

Music Overview: The Chainsmokers

Hailing from New York City this electronic music duo is looking to have a big year. After the explosion in popularity last year with remixes such as Icona Pop's - Girlfriend, The Wanted's - We own the Night, and Cash Cash's - Take Me  Home just to name a few have launched them into the limelight. With recent tracks that were released this year it looks like the duo is only starting to make an impact on the EDM world.
